How Kings Food Mart collects, uses, and safeguards your personal information when you shop with us — and the choices and rights you have along the way.

Kings Food Mart ("we", "us", "our") is a wholesale and retail grocery business registered in Nigeria (RC 8980702). We operate this website and deliver foodstuff to homes and businesses. We are the "data controller" responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

02 Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the store and serve you well. That includes:

Information you give us

  • Account details — your name, email address, phone number and password when you create an account.
  • Order & delivery details — your delivery address, the items you buy and any delivery notes.
  • Communications — messages you send us through the contact form, email, or chat, and your newsletter preferences.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device & usage data — your browser type, device, and how you move through the site, gathered through cookies and similar tools.
  • Approximate location — used to estimate delivery areas and times.

We do not store full card numbers. Payments are handled by licensed payment providers who process your card or transfer securely on their own systems.

03 How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account, and keep you signed in.
  • Process, pack, and deliver your orders, and keep you updated on their status.
  • Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
  • Send order confirmations and, if you've opted in, deals and product news.
  • Improve our range, pricing, and website based on what customers use most.
  • Prevent fraud and keep the store and your account secure.
  • Meet our legal and tax obligations in Nigeria.

We rely on your consent for marketing messages, on the performance of our contract with you to fulfil orders, and on our legitimate interest in running a safe, well-stocked store for the rest.

04 Cookies & tracking

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to keep your basket and sign-in working, remember your preferences, and understand which parts of the site are most useful. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features (like staying signed in) may not work as smoothly without them.

05 Sharing your information

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Delivery partners — the name, address and phone number needed to bring your order to your door.

06 How we protect it

No system is ever completely immune to risk, but we work hard to protect your data and will notify you and the relevant authority promptly if a breach ever affects your rights.

07 Data retention

We keep your information only as long as we need it — for the life of your account, and afterwards where required for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. When it's no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your information, where we're not required to keep it.
  • Object to or restrict certain uses of your data.
  • Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these, email hello@kingsfoodmart.ng. We'll respond within the timeframe set by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

09 Children's privacy

Our store is intended for customers aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us their information, please contact us and we'll remove it.

10 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our store or the law changes. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date at the top, and for significant changes we'll let you know directly or with a notice on the site.
